Will More Pets Be Surrendered to Shelters?

Every year 3-5 Million dogs and cats are put down in shelters. Not from aggression, but because of shelter overcrowding. I will repeat those two lines frequently on this blog because it needs to get into people's heads.

When you bring your pet to a shelter, chances are not in its favor that it will get adopted and live with a loving family with a farm and room to run. It will live a sad and lonely existence where it will probably be put down. And you don't even want to know some of the ways they are put to sleep.

Why am I bringing up this sad situation? Because I am concerned that as families lose jobs they will think the $20 a month they spend on pet food is an expense they can't afford.

What can we do to help people Keep Their Pets?
